The recent (recurring) talk about music, in this case Tom Waits, prompted me to start this thread.

I have a very diverse taste in music and usually pick a genre or artist according to my mood or the task at hand. Or sometimes I wake up with a tune in my head and no rest until I pull it and listen to it. Bet you know the feeling.

So in this thread please list what's stuck in your head at the moment (for better or for worse).

Today I started off on Judas Priest's "Run of the mill". Imho one of the greatest rock ballads ever.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuXoalKim9c

So in light of Tom's awesome quote on the "hybrids are dumb" thread I thought perhaps it would be fitting if there was a thread on quotes about bicycles. Whether or not this catches on is another story but I thought I would give it a shot. Here is one from the site that Tom suggested that I really like:

The bicycle, the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets. ~Christopher Morley

Add quotes that you find, or your own quotes for that matter!

Cheers,
Adam

People commute around town by bicycle for many different reasons. One of those reasons is for sustainability for this planet and a basic feeling one person shouldn't have to make such an impact. I'm starting this thread as a general place we promote and ask questions about being green off of the bicycle. I have plenty of questions and plenty of things i still want to do and im sure most here feel the same way. I recycle at the shop but im looking to do more. much more.

Here's some quick subjects right off the top of my head:

Composting
Alternative energy
"Clean" automobiles
Local food
Recycling
Re-using
Organic food
Organic clothing
Organic substitutes for daily harsh chemicals in the home
buying locally made products (not buying things that travel 10,000 miles to get to you)

So I'm going to moving out to SD for a full-time position after graduation in May. I'd like to be ~10-12 miles from the Sorrento Valley but might be open to suggestions. Anyone have an opinion on where I should live?

We've had a few mentions in comments about these but it seems like they deserve a thread of their own. I've been doing research on and off for a few months. I still haven't decided. Every time I feel close to deciding, I find something else that seems to need some investigation. I'm heavily leaning towards the VHoldr ContourHD. I like that it's HD and has good sound. I'm a little concerned about night performance and the reviews of the vented helmet mount are not good.

VHoldr just announced a GPS version:

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-20016299-48.html

The entire video would be geo-tagged including position, altitude and speed. Former NYC police officer Patrick Pogan was convicted of lying in his report about his assault of Christopher Long at a NYC CM in July 2008. He was acquitted of the assault charge, but that was only a misdemeanor, and any sentence would probably have been concurrent with the felony he was convicted of, so it doesn't really matter for sentencing.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/30/nyregion/30pogan.html

In any case, he was convicted of a felony. He will be going to jail for up to 4 years.

I love that the assault is on video, and shows that Pogan was lying about signalling Long to stop, and about Long steering into him, and about Long knocking him down (none of those things happened).

 Hey all,

So the bike company I work for is looking for models for our 2011 catalog. I recognize a few of you from some submissions we've received already, thanks! The shoots are usually pretty rad, last year's shoot involved the desert, fire, and bourbon. So yeah. Here's the ad:

---
Electra is looking for models for our 2011 web and print photography.

We're looking for 'real people' rather than supermodels, but if you happen to be one, that's just fine. We are seeking individuals with diverse and eclectic interests - males and females between the ages of 18 and 70, any race, size, and ethnic background.

The photo shoot is set for late April. We are looking for models who are willing to trade work for a bike or equipment. If you are interested, or know someone else who might be, please submit one face photo and one full body photo and/or video to norma@electrabike.com by 3/31/2010.

Decisions will be made early April and prospective participants will be contacted at that time.

Combined entries are welcome. Professional photos are not necessary. Electra will not cover travel costs.
---

Feel free to email/whisper any questions you might have - email to melissa@electrabike.com.
Thanks for your time guys!

Melissa
