Hello, my name is Sky and wanted to start this forum to bring bike commuters together. I felt that new and experienced bike commuters needed a place where they could talk about routes, advocacy and gear. Bike commuting as many of you know is not as easy as just putting a bag on a bike. There's a lot of trial and error that goes into getting the correct route, the correct clothes, the correct bike, the correct bike fit and so on. So here you go, lets make this forum great and with any luck at all we can talk more and more people into joining this form of transportation! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules 1) This is not a place for Spam. Do not advertise here or else your thread will be removed. 2) Please be polite on this forum. Internet fights are stupid and don't belong here. Check your attitudes at the door. 3) Please use the "Whisper" function for conversations that the rest of the forum doesn't need to read. This will keep the forum clean and precise. 4) Please post your new threads in the correct category. 5) Don't be a lurker! Contribute and help SD with it's bike culture! What happens if you do stupid things on the forum? First Offence = warning Second Offence = you will be assigned "Probation" status for all to see Third Offence = you will be banned forever. If the offense is large enough Moderators reserve the right to skip steps or skip all the steps if the offense is big enough! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loading photos: You need to go to have your photos hosted before posting them. WWW.Photobucket.com is a good site to do this. The accounts there are free and it's easy to use. Load your photos onto Photobucket. Copy the line that says "HTML CODE" and bring that code to this site. Paste that code here Click the "HTML" button below the dialog box (see it? it's above the smiley faces). from there you should be good. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loading videos: For Youtube videos select html format at the bottom of the comment box and then user the following syntax " put whatever title of the vid you want in this section" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to install a link: -To make a link look for the series of small text boxes above the dialog box. -Then click on the one that says [link]. -a small window will appear and this is where you will paste in your link and click "OK". -now your link will appear in the dialog box. -at this point name your link something like "check out this stupid ebay auction". -After you type in the name of the link go back up and click on the [link] button again and you are set! -Oh, and be sure that HTML button is clicked at the bottom of the page above the smiley faces. it will end up looking like this: Best damn commuter site out there! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Whisper a moderator with any questions.

the above methods for adding video, images and links are still valid, but as of 5/21/09 we have made things even easier. check below!

When adding images, or links or even video, you just need to post the full URL and it will post. it is important to always include the the "http://" portion of the link.

for example.

typing http://www.velocult.com
will result in
http://www.velocult.com

if you type in http://velocult.com/images/news/d645920e395fedad7bbbed0eca3fe2e0.jpg
the result will be

and lastly if you type in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L6eZxlxMgU
the result will be
