I saw T.E.D. when I was riding up Broadway from Downtown on Saturday. He was in town to see his sister's commencement ceremony on Point Loma. He mentioned missing the weather and bicycling scene here, but discovering more bicycling all the time up in the Riverside/'Berdoo area.

Saw Jim Baross and Stephan at the Civic Center Plaza pit stop.

I saw Baross as well, at BLAh. I don't think I saw anyone else I recognized from the forum, though I saw quite a few riders (dozens, maybe, as I hit six or seven pit stops). Which is really cool. Mentioned this forum to a couple of folks. Lets see if they show up.

    Saw Sigurd...

    1. Yesterday, Sunday 5/20, at 4pm, at the base of Cardeno, starting to climb. I was on the Vespa taking my daughter to volleyball practice.

    2. Today, Monday, 5/21, at 8:28am, turning left from downhill Nautilus onto W Muirlands. I was going up Nautilus and hadn't reached the intersection yet. I yelled, but he didn't respond. On Strava he said he heard someone yell something, but was going too fast and too much was going on to respond in anyway. Man, it was foggy this morning!

Great Memorial Day ride. Decked out in the best Red, White, & Blue I could muster. Ran into Sigurd & Lisi at Cabrillo and rode together for awhile, Cecil in South Park, & Brittany from Taco Tuesday riding home thru the Park at PetCo Park. Great seeing and riding with everyone.

I saw bikingbill and cyclocross James at the Wednesday Encinitas sunset/farmers' market...It's worth getting there early to get bicycle bucks.

Going up Cardeno on the way to work this morning, I saw Panarossi coming down: According to his Strava he was doing a City Heights - multiple Soledad - Cabrillo cruise.
  5.
Saw some people rolling down park blvd on my way home from work around 11:30 one of them had an urban bs hoodie on so I figured maybe someone from here? Said hi but didn't really see who it was.
  6.
I say OKB and crash at BRCR the other day- had a great time chattin with them about all things bikes. We'll have to grab a beer soon :-)

Today I saw Sigurd (or rather, he saw me) as I was still dripping water from my swim in the bay headed on a quick ride up Soledad with my buddy. Thanks for yelling a 'hello!' Its almost like getting cheered on in a real race!

I saw a coyote running in front of me on the Rose Canyon bike path on my way back home, yesterday (around 17:30hrs or so). I rang my bell and he just kept running in front of me. I rang the bell again and almost got to him when he turned to look at me and detoured to an opening on the bushes to the highway-side. He was beautiful! I wish I could have snapped a picture of him.
  7.
Saw Stephan heading up A Street, presumably to work. I was on Columbia, heading to 550 W. C.

I saw somebody Thursday (I'm not familiar with anyone else that rides in North County) in San Marcos on Mission blvd eastbound in a SD Radonneur(sp?) jersey on what looked to be an older copper colored steel bike. I was behind them for a bit. Late 20's to early 30's is my guess. I was on a blue/black Giant TCR bike in blue pants/black shirt. Just posting it here just in case they frequent these forums.

I was on that ride. It was Kelly and a few randos + the NC3 annual century. We did Oceanside Pier/ferry/Coronado. NC3 started in San Marcos and got to the coast at Leucadia Blvd or Poinsettia.

Were you at Pier View Coffee or Colimas in Oceanside last week? I sat next to the bike rack and there was a folded Brompton with a Brooks saddle locked to it.

I was out of town last week. So it must have been somebody else. If I was at Pierview Cafe my Brompton would have been sitting beside me inside or outside.

Yeah, I was on the Randos ride. We left Oceanside at 7. The fun part was getting to the Ferry before 10. Let me tell you 22mph on 47mm Marathon Plus tires is a workout. Over 100 miles for the day. My best time up the outside of Torry, middle ring the whole way. Slow for most of you, but at my size it was an achievement.

    Beautiful day.

The only bad part was Pacific Highway southbound. What a disaster of a road. Sante Fe must have felt like crap on 25mm tires ... If I could feel it on the 47mm's.

I saw Mike Mannis, Lee and Jan Granprey, OKB, Kathy Keehan, Steven Shultz at the e-bike introduction seminar.

Yeah you probably didn't since I am caging it today (again!) :face-devil-grin:

Seems like my friends always think of me for rides to the airport which has prompted my fiance to make fun of me and my airport taxi service -I dropped off some other friends on Wednesday. It is a bit of a pain -since it makes me have to change my schedule and routine :face-plain: - but I always find it so much nicer to be dropped off/picked up by a friend rather than a taxi so I figure other people must be the same...

Sounds like a Raymond Loewy designed Studebaker produced between 1956-1958. My mother had a 1952 Studebaker Commander, a much cleaner Loewy design, and my father had a grotesque 1950 bullet nose Commander designed by Bob Bourke. This was when we lived on Agate St. in PB in 1959. I'm surprised I can remember that far back. I was three years old and had just experienced my first electric shock, probably jump started my little brain. Subsequently we moved to 1571 Beryl St. and my father took a job selling Chevrolets. He paid $17,500 for the little two bedroom one bath cottage. He brought home a new '59 Impala with winged fins on the back.

Impala = boat like big, no? Then again, I guess the Golden Hawk I saw was also on the large-ish size. :)
How/why did you experience an electric shock when you were three?

I remember it clearly. I was in my grandmother's sewing room, crawled under the machine, and stuck a finger into an electrical outlet. I've been terrified of electricity ever since. In ninth grade electronics class I shocked myself measuring voltages, never finished the project, and got a lousy grade.

Those old Chevys were huge. In the '80s I had a '59 Brookwood two door surfer station wagon. My landlord made me sell it because he didn't like how it looked in the driveway. Sold it to a restorer from Orangutan County. I'd love to see what it looks like now.

A new Chevy Suburban is way larger the classic land yachts of the 50's to the 70's.

Also automobiles have as much power as the classic muscle cars (or more). A new Honda Minivan has 260+ HP. There are stock Mercedes with over 500HP (real) now. You can walk into a Ford dealership and buy a 500HP Mustang. That's more power than even the best of the factory cars of the 1960's.

The most powerful muscle car of the classic era, the 426Hemi Cuda, was 425HP and back then they measured HP in a way that inflated the numbers.

Cars are faster than they have ever been, and drivers are far more distracted than they ever were. The only good news is that brakes and handling are FAR better now.

EDIT: The top of the line Mustang (the Shelby Cobra) is running 662HP.

    What The Fuck?
