Cecil stopped by the track on Saturday while riding Florida Canyon trails on a fabulous Moots CX bike. I was starting the team sprints at the state championships. On Sunday after the final session I dropped by Tiger! Tiger! and saw PacMUle's new vintage Torpado. What a sweet ride! Watched Wiggo and Froomie lead out Cav in the final sprint. The race promoter bought me lunch for volunteering as starter for the race. I drank three pints of Alesmith IPA. At 7.7% I woke up this morning a bit hung over.

People are so nice to me when I'm on the Brompton that I don't always notice when people say hi. Hi.

To the guy who was commuting (?!!?) on a tall bike on Wednesday evening along Orange Avenue, you have taken commuting to a whole different level. I know I've seen you around at various events and I remember your face because of the pretty awesome mustache you sport. But talk about visibility, you were floating above all the cars and I can't imagine how awesome the view must be from atop your saddle. I guess one good thing about riding that bike is that it's hard to steal.

lol... i think i saw that guy heading down camino de la rena the other morning :)
  1.
Is it the mechanic from Mission Hills Bikes? There is always a yellow or orange tall bike parked out front and it belongs to the dude with the crazy mustache. I don'tthink it's ever locked because who is going to steal a tall bike?
  2.
I know Taylor from MHB recently (a couple months ago) welded himself a tall bike, and showed it off to me down at the track a couple Tuesdays ago. He was also recently mentioned in the 'Tech Talk' thread.

Shady - the morning after Nate Harrison Grade, you go out and do hill repeats on Soledad -- and then set PRs on Via Capri?!?

    You da man!

PS! Yes - Mexico ride is pretty flat.

I saw Mark, Mike, Pac and Kate at Suzie's Farm in the afternoon. I met Lucila and saw her riding her cargo bike around with two cute kids. The Bluegrass was good, Bill Monroe and Grateful Dead. Ha! I chatted up a gal who worked on the farm and is a Falconer. I can't recall her name, but her young little dog was Dart. We talked a bit about raptors which was very interesting. It's quite a bit of acreage down there and all organic. Nice day in the country side!

    From Suzie's web site:

"...Suzie was a dog that was dumped here in the Tijuana River Valley. She was a purebred Norwegian Elkhound, but for whatever reason, that wasn't enough reason to keep her. Nor was her intelligence, her grace, her bravery or her resourcefulness. We have a farm adjacent to what is now Suzie's Farm - the area where Suzie was abandoned. She found her way to our farm and eventually to our home. Suzie taught us to live at peace with the world, to get back up when you get knocked down, and to know how to be present and available when opportunities present themselves to you...."

    OKB

Great ride today. I met up with several cyclists today at Balboa park to ride south to San Ysidro border crossing (I didn't go to TJ): Hans, Richard (Chinaman), Heather Stone, Erik, James, and two others; then Sigurd and his two teenagers joined us along the route. From San Ysidro I rode back to Suzie's farm and saw Mike Mannis at the gate, then we saw O.K.B. enjoying the shade on the side of the driveway. Pacmule and his friend (Kate with her dog sprocket) walked in. Sprocket looked like the dog puppet from Fraggle Rock.

There may have been some plotting involved. It may or may not have to do with a bicycle.

i probably just didn't recognize you... for the most part i have no clue what anyone on this board looks like unless i have met them in person. most pics i see on here of people on bikes with helmets make them all look the same to me... not to mention that i am forgetful as all hell, so that even if i have met someone, i seldom remember them unless i see them often.

I saw someone who looked familiar on the way into work this morning a little before 9:30 on Camino de la Reina, roughly around Bed Bath & Beyond. I'm terrible with names. Bearded. Black shirt.

I need to work on socializing more so I can remember people better.

    I miss Velo Cult.
