I saw four (five?) sweaty guys with messenger bags yesterday at The Regal Beagle at around 20:30 -awesome beer!!
I thought they must have been on bicycles even though when I left I didn't pay attention or looked for the bikes.
    Anybody from here?

A few days ago when Mike and I were enjoying a pint at the Blind Lady, he looked out the window and said, "There goes beany."
Looking up from my Hangar 24 Orange, I saw beany ride by too. She was headed east.

    Well, "hi!" zonal.

I see Pre Req and Trevor from Manivela Food delivery at least once a week. Usually Trevor rides with me for a while and chats. Usually Pre Req is too far for me to even yell out a hello.

I've noticed an increase in cyclists. My immediate thought was whether the gas prices had gone up...but I don't really know.

Dinged my bell at some (4 or 5) cyclists heading south as we were heading north on Utah on Saturday night and they dinged (and honked something) and said hi back. I have no idea who they were since Utah is pitch black on that section, but it confirmed my belief that bike folks are nice folks.

Saw zonal last Tuesday. I had forgotten about the taco ride in my exhaustion but Mike saw me and so zonal and Mike rode over to say hi. Very pleasant ending to my very long day.

Saw Protorio yesterday by the SD river trail.

I haven't seen member James P Griffin in a long time -- but I saw him today; bombing down W. Washington towards Pacific Hwy from Mission Hills. He had taken the lane and rode in between fast traffic - James, you rock!

Also saw Chris Taylor and Miss E in SP - they were riding their bikes to soccer at Morley FIeld: You guys rock, too!
  4.
I have to take the lane there. The bike lane disappears 2/3rd of the way down the hill. If you don't go fast you'll get crushed.
  5.
Always nice to see you, Sigurd. E and I saw a bunch of commuter-types along 30th (both on the way to, and back from, Morley Field) but nobody I recognized. Stopped in at the Linkery and Sea Rocket Bistro for a cool-neighborhood-day. Oh, saw Robin Tayler (of Suzie's Farm fame) at the Linkery. Just a great urban living bicycle day.

I met Slobiker for the first time last night. His Hawaiian twanging was fantastic. I felt like I was in a tropical paradise listening to it.

Also saw the taco crew last night at Bar Pink: Hans, Beverly (another one), SDAirbrush, Sonja and Jeremy. I had a good time chatting about hops. It was a good way to end my Tuesday.

Boy is my face red! I saw Bryan (Shapps) on Adams Avenue at Park riding a nice old steel Peugeot "Vache de Gomme." Actually he recognized me first after I unloaded some choice verbal abuse on a driver who got upset with me for STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN! I guess I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't!

It was the straw that broke the camel's back. I had just been hooked into a right corner for the third time today, this time by a (man) driving one of those Ford Expeditions with gold colored plastic all over it (Lincoln Navigator).

Riding down Bachman at 6 am this morning a car with Illinois plates suddenly slammed on the brakes with no warning, turned left across the opposite lane and then started backing up into my path.

At 6:20 this morning in the dark riding west on West Mission Bay Drive a City of San Diego sewer vacuum truck and an accompanying stake bed truck both buzzed me closely even though they had a clear left lane in which to pass. They then hooked me into the corner turning right onto Mission Blvd. and slowed down. I passed both of them on the left, illuminating both drivers with my helmet mounted Magicshine 900.

At La Jolla Blvd. and Nautilus St. as I was setting up my right turn someone in a little blue car chopped in front of me and almost took out my front wheel. I tried to catch him going up the hill toward Fay Avenue but lost him.

Riding back up Bachman this afternoon an older man (I'm frickin' 54) driving a Baader-Meinhof Wagen Cabriolet buzzed me with inches to spare. I tried to catch him also but only ended up catching a young lady with two Adams Avenue water bottles riding up the hill in front of me.

Eastbound on Washington east of Fifth Avenue I failed to control the lane in time and a (man) driving an old wrecked Infinity refused to let me merge over before the bridge over 163. I braced for an impact but he moved slightly left at the last second. Right lane at Essex St. is all blocked off with delineators and the other lanes were occupied by speeding traffic, so I knocked over two of the delineators to make a lane for myself. A passenger in a construction truck didn't like that and yelled at me. I turned left on Lincoln and as I was setting up my right turn on Maryland St. a (man) driving a Nissan with a dog in the back seat turned left in front of me and starting driving in the bike lane. He sped up when I tried to pass on the left.

Shortly thereafter I had my encounter with the Navigator. I was preparing to turn right from Cleveland onto Madison when he raced up behind me and chopped me in the turn. I took the turn wide and started to pass him on the left. He sped up also.

So finally eastbound on Adams Avenue I come to the 4-way stop at Park. There are cars coming from the three other directions which all got there first. No one would go even after I stopped. I did a track stand for 30 seconds at a complete stop waiting for the person facing me to make her left turn. I could tell she was just going to sit there, so I looked at the ground and continued to track stand. The other cars all proceeded. Finally she made a face, mouthed some words, and made her turn. When the driver behind her got all upset and yelled at me I shouted "Don't you tell me how to ride a bike, you *******! Bryan had just come up behind me and I guess he saw and heard the whole thing. I was really embarrassed, but it had not been a good day. This last incident drove me off the hinge, so to speak.

I read a thread on Bike Forums that suggested that Friday afternoon is the worst time of the week for bike commuters. After today I tend to agree.

No reason to be embarrassed, Ray. I got to the intersection just as you had started across it, and kept going since traffic was stopped for you to cross. I thought the guy was yelling at me for blowing through the intersection. Guy was an ass, I would have happily yelled something at him as well had I been clever enough to think of something to yell. Was good to see ya in any event.

I was biking home from La Mesa today and saw Mark Phillips. Of course I saw Mark, why wouldn't I? I live in Lemon Grove and he lives in Carlsbad and I happened to pass him on some random street in La Mesa. Anyways, a fun surprise. We had a quick chat before he had to attend other business.
