billd:Saw Velo Cult (or his doppelgänger) on channel 6 news tonight in their coverage of the Sono Holiday Festival.

That would have been me! I had no idea there was anyone there coving the event. I'll tell you what, that event was huge. Much larger than I expected. It was busy from 10am to 5pm.

Last night I saw prereq, zonal, Kathy, Stephan, and others whose names on these boards I'm not sure of.

Also met jgrody for the first time and heard about his very speedy 20 day tour from PDX to SD! I'm inspired to do the same.

I read about the results from last night's meeting but what was the mood like at the meeting?
Nevermind...reading up on it in the other thread :)

The other day I saw and talked with Thom's wife Anne at Trader Joe's in Hillcrest.

Then yesterday while at a group viewing of the documentary on WikiLeaks called 'WikiRebels' at Cafe Libertalia in Hillcrest I'm pretty sure I saw Caboose walk by the front window, twice, in the same direction.

Ah, cool - it's on YouTube in four parts here: WikiRebels: The Documentary on WikiLeaks
DEFINITELY worth viewing. Next time I'll give a heads-up in Local Events.

Critical mass night...I saw Cecil, Chris T, VC mechanics in south park. Then met Hans, Sigurd, BeverlyCurly, Adam, and three new people at Evolution.

Chris was talking to a friend who was so drunk (at 6 pm) that he couldn't remember the combination to his bike lock. Thanks Chris for saving a life yesterday.

I think I saw Vas (don't know if he's on the board?) yesterday on Santa Fe ride. I was sluggishly making my way north when he passed me along with another rider. I thought I recognized him and was to call out but they were just moving along and I wasn't sure anyways.
I kept them on sight for most of the bike path, but I was definitely struggling with the wind and the legs. Heh.

I was running late this morning and just past the MCRD I got passed, even though I was doing maybe 21-22mph. Due to lights, I finally caught up with him at Laurel and met HippyOnaBike.
  2.
I was jammin' about as fast as I go, trying to catch a ferry to Coronado and meet up with my folks (visiting this weekend from NJ). I had a feeling when I passed and saw the oldschool Performance frame that it might be a fellow sdbikecommuter. :face-monkey:

Pleasure to meet you, of course, billd, and I hope you don't think I was exercising some road machismo when I passed- I was just in a hurry.

Be cautious when riding fast on less familiar roads, however (I don't head to SD proper too often, so even PCH isn't my home turf). I hit some crazy bumb going way fast and broke a spoke on my badass wheel... :face-sad:

I don't get offended at other bicyclists for passing me. I do get offended by myself for not being faster. I was going about as fast as I can sustain given the distance I have to travel. I could have tried to sprint to keep up with you but then I would have had to slow way down to recover.

I saw Sky yesterday and got to ride his new commuter around the block. I may have had some misgivings about the balloon looking tires. In fact, I didn't really want to buy into the "fat tires are fast" thing. But it does roll fast and it is really nice ~ plush ride.

It's also a pretty fun bike to ride.

I also saw my new girlfriend at Velocult yesterday too. She's kind of a Debra Harry look.

On Monday night while seven of us who had just volunteered with Mercy For Animals were enjoying vegan dinners at Ranchos in North Park, I saw Cobraeverde paying at the register and jumped up to say hi, noting to him that he was wearing the same black 'I bike TJ' shirt that he was wearing many months ago when, during a Critical Mass ride, I had pulled over to assist with a flat and met him for the first time. :)

Passed Jim Baross today on Park Blvd at Polk Ave in the afternoon. This is the third different route I've taken home now... with most everything south of Hotel Circle/Bachman Pl being common. So many sheep, I mean... no I was right, lining up on Murphy Canyon Rd, Aero Dr, Balboa Ave, and Clairmont Mesa Blvd to sit in traffic. I've seen shorter lines for things much more fun. Not only that... but in a hurry for it! Either way, saw Jim Baross... Said hello (doubt he knew me).

I looked up the Arkel website out of curiosity; lots of cool stuff! My commuter panniers are actually made by Giant. They're kind of heavy compared to the soft bags I used for 20 years, but they hold a lot and they don't have exposed nuts on the inside that wear holes in clothes if not packed carefully.
