Sam:It was my first groundbreaking anything so it was neat to meet all the who's who in biking. Also a councilmember from Coronado rode over. Is Coronado big enough to have districts? Or is each mansion a district?
I honestly was surprised to meet and be introduced to Gordy Shields since I thought one named things after dead people. Good to learn that Gordy was not dead and was still riding.
Also learned that the powers that be at Caltrans bristle at the implication that they're all about cars...so apparently they're looking to not be seen that way
mfutch:I think I recognized Sam's bike at the Whistle Stop last night. Lots of stickers, Brooks sprung saddle locked to the frame and a big silver bell? I've never met Sam, but I can recognize the bike.
gavilan:Sigurd, were you in the La Jolla bike path this morning, by any chance?Don't know how I missed this post, but yes - I was there: I usually pass through there northbound sometime around 8AM (with some some pretty wide margins on either side): Blue/silver Bridgestone road bike.
HippyOnaBike:Sigurd sounded heartbroken when I called him and he was unable to attend.I actually was a bit jealous, but was on a "circle the city" ride when you called, so too far away to get back in time. Did a triple Soledad Sat. morning though, and another quintuple this morning, so I pretty much got that hill out of my system for a while...

gavilan:I saw Frank the Sunday before last (8 days ago?) while I was going south on the Rose Canyon bike path. Can't miss his recumbent. :)
bikingbill:Who's Frank and what sort of recumbent does he have? He's a member here (of course!) - WonderpProfessor. I believe he rides a Gold Rush. He's got a nice stereo on it - I always ride close to him during the Todos ride for his tunes.

gavilan:Hey dstone! Was that you climbing up the Scripps hill this morning (a bit before 9) with the Velo Cult jersey? :)
I was on the bridge and saw you go by. I was going to holla but you had cars coming up behind you and I didn't want to get you distracted.
wpstoll:Bill has the tallest frame I have ever seen. He brings it in to Adams Avenue Bicycles for service from time to time.

Holla! Was that you again this morning at the top of the hill, orange shirt?
I was heading the other direction, crazy pink/black/white windbreaker. :)
I could not believe how foggy it got as soon as I rolled down the hill!!! Nuts. I told the construction guy that was directing traffic "if you just climb up the hill it's crazy clear and sunny" and he could not believe it.
