I got egged going up Linda Vista Road by USD back in December. It got me thinking about getting one of those helmet cams that records to a flash card and just leaving it on all the time. Nothing like video evidence.

We could start a Youtube channel documenting idiots on the road.

This morning WAS awesome! Nobody tried to kill me, and birds were singing everywhere.

    Wee bit cold though.

Last night I got a replacement for my recalled Salsa cromoly stem. I loved that thing. It was the only steel 1 1/8" threadless stem I'd ever found, and it was sexy and little. Now I have a black Thomson Elite on there and it sure rides nice but you know, it sort of. . how to say this. It might just be me, but. .

    It resembles an anal plug.

Might flip it for a better angle, but then the text will be upside down. Bleh.

    Thursday's commute rocked.

Hellacious headwind from the 56 to the coast, but after Torrey Pines (the inside route) I think it was a tailwind because we blasted home 10 minutes faster than usual.

32 miles, right at two hours.

I swear on the balls of christ there was a limb on the train tracks near the bike path today. I'm not saying I'm sure it was human, I didn't poke at it or anything...but I think I'm at least gonna call animal control to make sure someone checks it out.

Also, I gave a man in a wheelchair a lift up a big hill. It was hard work.

thick misty fog this morning, i actually had to use the blinky on my ride in. first ride with the new shoe/pedal combo and i loved it. except when my left egg beater wailed on my shin. over it.

Wow.. really. Lighten up.. Place blame on your inexpirience with your pedals not the motorist. i have gouged the crap out of my shin quite a few times. Always my fault.

Were you riding a fixie or something? If so, wow. I can't even imagine doing that. However, with a decently low gear, it's really not that bad of a hill. Via Capri or Jutland or even Texas is worse IMO.

I rode to the Coaster this morning and took it from Santa Fe to Sorrento Valley. I tried to pay by Debit Card and it said "Unsuccessful, please contact your bank". I didn't think much of it and just paid by Credit Card.

Then I ride in to work, check my bank account online, and they charged my Debit Card for the "failed" transaction. I called and they told me to wait 24 hours to see if the charge goes away. It doesn't say "Pending" like I've seen in the past, so I'm worried it went through successfully.

I think I'm going to ride home tonight the whole way and skip the Coaster.

I ended up riding home today. It was my first time going all the way without the Coaster. I feel great and I'm really glad I did it...for some reason there was this invisible barrier that prevented me from making the whole 20 mile ride. Now that that's broken, I intend to ride to and from work a bit more often this way, and only take the Coaster when I'm feeling lazy.

It took about an hour and a half, but I'm sure that will get cut shorter as time goes by.

Thanks to Sky for his recommended route in the "Which route should I take" thread, it was great...bike paths/lanes/routes the whole way.

i know, they've been great lately!! no armwarmers needed once i leave the coast. can't wait to bust out the sleeveless jerseys and display my unsightly tan lines. i just wish i could reasonably show off the awesome white handprint i got when i fell asleep on the beach with my hand on my stomach saturday.

rode the boy's single speed cruiser to work from the sprinter station yesterday so i could replace the index cap on his integrated kickstand. it would fall down while he was riding and he almost ate it a few times. all fixed. hate integrated kickstands. .

on the way back to the sprinter in the evening i came across the homeless man who lives under the bridge by the buena creek station. he usually hangs out in the bike lane right by the bridge, then hops behind the railing when a cyclist approaches. i actually had a bell to ring for him so i let it fly. he just loves it. if i think of it, i'm going to stop there one day and zip tie a bell to the bridge railing so he can ring back. heh.

I've been seeing the whale about half of the times I ride the ferry. I saw him this morning twice, which was pretty cool. I guess I'd like him to get back out to sea like he's supposed to, but it's cool to see him. When the ferry is full of tourists I fear it will flip over as they all run over to one side to see him. It puts a noticable list on the boat.

We rode to and from school (High Tech High, in Point Loma) today. With various detours. a total of just under 16 miles round trip. Did not want to ride Nimitz (or Midway), so we chose a safer route over the top of Point Loma instead.

I am still stoked about the GPS integrating with Google Maps, so here's the track: Not sure why the track shows me zig-zagging between Ocean Front Walk and Mission Blvd - I was on the boardwalk the whole time. Oh well.

Today was a funny morning. Cruised in, quiet morning, WARM.. Get on the ferry, had a slight talk with someone opened thier mouth a little soon. Walked off the ferry with out my gloves. Which sucked. Because, riding home with out would suck. And having to hunt down a new pair would suck (call me picky). It would just, suck.

A very nice lady, dressed in a pant suit, actually picked them up and waited for me to come back 5 minutes after the ferry left. I'm not sure I'd want to pick up someone else's sweaty gloves. Totally nice. Kind of gave me tingles.

I tilted it a little too high and was quite uncomfortable.

we're all getting old dan. i started out this morning intending to ride the whole way, then gave up and hopped on the sprinter. yesterday's ride in from oceanside to san marcos was good though, although fixed it kind of kicks my ass unless i've been riding it 3x weekly. yesterday's ride required some positive mental suggestion: "oh, my legs feel strong today! they feel warm too. it must be all that rest i gave them yesterday. i bet i can ride forever!" and on and on, etc etc. just need my music again. . bluetooth stereoset broke, i used to psych myself up and mash my pedals to the music.

but the good part is today's our unofficial weekly company ride down to the green flash brewery for a pint after work. . . yessssssss. . hooray beer!

beautiful morning on the coast today! the pbr i consumed last night made it difficult to get up, but once i got on the bike i was happy i did. birds chirping, waves breaking. . wanted to call in sick and go surf.

the wind heading home last night was a total bastard. brutal. but met an OG rider in a wool jersey with WC colors and our chat helped pass the time. saw five other fixed gears on the coast, something of a record in these parts. i was the only one with a helmet and lycra tho. :>

rocked/ran/rubbed/palped (bsync joke) my new castelli vizio shorts for the ride home yesterday despite the wind. i loves me some castelli. it makes me feel fancy. :)
