cobraeverde:The only thing I have to add is...bring sunscreen.I forgot about that - you'll be riding into the sun basically all day: Sunscreen and reapplications are required!
mfutch: The nice thing about the super secret elite start is that it is easy on the ego. You get passed by maybe 10 people all day.I am not that concerned about the ego - mine is pliable and bouncy: But - last time, I started towards the back (I got there late-ish and there were 4,000 riders): It was like riding the Critical Mass, and it took me 8-10 miles before I could ride my own pace due to the throngs of other riders: By starting up front with all the "racers", I can likely go my own pace from the get-go. Or at least that's the idea.
mfutch:I'm planning on it, but I'm pretty sick right now. We'll see how I'm doing by the end of the week.Hopefully you feel better by now so that you can make it! If you decide to go, text me (number in profile) once in Rosarito -- perhaps we can ride together for a while. Or get together in Ensenada for the fiesta!
buenasolas:So, is there a non $90(and more fun) bus ride being setup for the 9/24 Rosarito ride?In the past I have had my amigos south of the border purchase a motor coach/registration package for me: Coach ride TJ=>Rosarito in the morning; Ensenada=>TJ in the afternoon, plus registration for the ride itself for, AFAIR, about $50.
Sigurd:The next Rosarito - Ensenada ride is May 5th, start 10:00AM. Anybody here thinking of going? We could do a group order.
bikingbill:How are the bikes treated by the transport company?I have only done this ride twice: Although my bike was treated OK, I do not have not enough evidence to uncritically endorse the transportation methods. I suppose it also varies depending upon with whom you contract for transport, as there are a lot of different shipping options - notably, starting in San Diego or TJ, or just the return leg from Ensenada.
lucky.penny:I don't think I have ever done TPs ...

Sigurd:Just got this crazy idea that I will try to do this ride again - it'll be my third time - next Saturday...If you're heading down for Cuatro de Mayo (Paseo de Todos), I'd bet you'd find a ride to Rosarito that night OR in the morning. Just a thought!
Sigurd:Forget everything I said in my earlier post - I have figured out how to become more organized and to get the tickets for bus and ride in advance. Are you planning on driving, riding, or taking the trolley to the border and back?
The price for the bus (TJ -> Rosarito in the morning, Ensenada -> TJ in the afternoon) and ride itself is USD 50. In order to make it to the bus, we need to arrive in TJ no later than 0630.
I am planning on picking up a ticket for myself this Wednesday. If anybody else wants to go, I can pick up a ticket for them, too. Ping me if you want a ticket - prepay by Paypal preferred.
svelocity:Are you planning on driving, riding, or taking the trolley to the border and back?I need to be across the border and into TJ at 0630, so I am not planning to ride to and from the border - haven't decided exactly how to get there yet.
Sigurd:To all interested - a reminder that if you want me to pick up bus/ride tickets for you, I need to know and be PayPal-ed by midnight tonight.svelocity:Are you planning on driving, riding, or taking the trolley to the border and back?I need to be across the border and into TJ at 0630, so I am not planning to ride to and from the border - haven't decided exactly how to get there yet.
If anybody wants to ride to the border, we could meet up at the north-side border crossing.
