    What a fantastic old house!

Being in Santa Cruz at the moment, I couldn't get this tag -- even if I had known where it was. I bet the history buff is gonna go for it!

    Well done, Thom!
It's a good thing too because having leaned back against a building to take the second photo, it would have been rather tricky to back up further for a third.
Then I would've had to publicly expose my superpower to walk through walls, and many of you saw in the X-Men movies how well that sort of thing goes over.

Other games to try (from Pittsburgh) - just throwing it out there.
  1.
The second game option looks interesting. I don't care for the points system. It gives other sdbikecommuters a chance to participate in a varied tag-o-rama game

    *************************************
The game goes in rounds. Each round begins with a 48-hour setting period.

Setting tags: During each setting period, everybody gets to set exactly one tag. (So there could be a large number of active tags at any moment.)

You can take your new-tag photo in advance, since this is not a race, and have it ready for posting whenever the next round starts.

After 48 hours, the setting period ends. No setting new tags until the next round begins!

Finding tags: You can find tags at any time, even during the setting period, and post your photo. You can always find tags set in previous rounds too.

After a round is over (or if nobody's found your tag after several days), the tag-setter should post more clues.

A new round starts once the setting period is over AND every tag has been found by at least one player.

    ***************************************

Geez, so I guess y'all got bored waiting for me to post the new tag, so you started thinking up new games. Sure, okay, I see how it is.:face-monkey:

Next tag will go up sometime tomorrow during the day, sorry I can't be more specific than that.

Ha! That is the ________House, current home to local legal legend Milt Silverman. I spent a year, or so, grinding away in the carriage house on that property, working with Silverman on the Stephanie Crowe civil lawsuit against the County, etc., for violating Michael Crowe's civil rights. Wish I had seen it in time to grab the tag.

MOD NOTE: post edited to remove the location of the tag -- can't reveal that until Thom posts the new tag!:face-angel:

I always thought the distinctive style of the Turf Club exterior would make for an excellent tag location!

As to the Quartermass-Wilde House - even if I had no idea know where it was, the first place I would go look for it would be those fancy couple of streets down by Ted's house.

    I guess I'm up then?

The previous tag was the plaque commemorating the original Linda Vista Shopping Center, on the northbound side of Linda Vista Rd between Comstock and Ulric.

Here's the new tag. A hint: it's really close to the "Real World."

    Gooooood Morning San Diego,

It's cool and overcast at the beach this morning. No wind to speak of, and the water is glassy. The surf has dropped from Saturday but there is still some fun size out there. I have no time for the boob tube when I have all this. Welcome to my real world!

I'll post up later. Have a great day in the real world!

Ride well and be safe out there.

    OKB

  8.
Hook Up! I've given you the bait, see if you can catch this one.

The last tag was at the foot of Linda Way in North PB, looking south toward Crystal Pier. According to a local I talked with while checking the surf, the new season for Real World is being shot at a house on the bluffs, just a little south of here. He said shooting began last week. I've never watched that program so I really don't know how real it is.

Ride well and be safe out there.

    OKB

"Real World" - I was pondering your reference to it until later in the day when I cast my eye on the local freebie rag, which on the front page featured an article about some television show called "Real World" coming to town.

Of course, I still have no clue - never heard of the show. But at least I grasp your reference to it!

I did. Thing has been working great. It was incorrectly advertised though. The ones they shipped ended up being the version with the iPod attachment and not the Bluetooth. I'm using my iPhone with it so it works for me, but I think they are doing refunds/exchanges if you wanted Bluetooth.

But yeah, I'm loving the thing. I wont wear headphones when I ride as I don't feel safe with loosing one of the few senses I have to detect where traffic is. So its nice to have tunes or some NPR when I ride.

I am confused - isn't the Bluetooth version for the iPhone (and the non-Bluetooth version for the iPod)? Did you mean to say iPod, and not iPhone?

I believe Woot sent me the non-Bluetooth version, and I cannot make it work with the iPhone 4 (don't have my 3G anymore so can't test that one).

    Sigurd,

I also had no idea really, and thought that the original reference, in ShadyGaga's 'hint', referred to some past season's show. I think I recall seeing some type of show produced down near Shelter Island or Loma Portal that was one of the original 'reality shows' that were all the rage a while back. I don't watch these shows and am sort of clueless about them.

As I was leaving the past TAG in PB, I thought to ask a local who was just checking the surf, what the Real World reference was. (I actually thought it might be the new name of a break out in the lineup.) He pointed out the house on the bluffs and told me a buddy of his was helping to install something like 80 cameras in the place and all the mics and wiring, and that shooting was about to commence.

I'll have to pick up a copy of the free Rag and get up to speed on the local pop culture. It's so hard for an Old Buoy to keep up with these kids these days! Yikes.

Ride well and be safe out there.

    OKB

Beach & Bay Press - you can probably still find the copy sitting in about half the driveways in town: Slightly yellowed after four days in the sun, but perfectly readable nevertheless.

Otherwise, the publisher's office is at the SE corner of Cass and Diamond.

There are two versions. One that is Bluetooth and one that comes with a dongle for the iphone/ipod. Neither does both. Dongle will work with either iphone or ipod. iphone can use either dongle or bluetooth version of the cy.fi.

I think the iPhone ones come with an iPhone/iPod wireless adapter, whereas the Bluetooth ones simply pair with a phone like a Bluetooth headset. I ordered mine a little earlier and got the Bluetooth version, which has also been working perfectly with my Android phone.
