    t.e.d:Got it.

Oh man, I was going to head there after work - even brought my camera... maybe I'll stop by anyhow

I meant "Got it" as in, I get that it's up to the person who is "it" to decide when they post hints. Personally, I would wait more than 1 day before dropping a hint, but that's just me. The tag is still up for grabs. Good luck.

Sounds like the race is on!

This game is starting to pick up some steam!

I haven't posted a lot of pictures. I tried pasting the url link into the img tag, but didn't realize that it doesn't include the .jpg extension. Time for bed. I will post another location in the morning.

Oh, I have a fancy pants phone and still don't know how to access the flicker image address using the flicker app or the mobile site. Does anyone else know how to post pictures from their iphone or smart phone directly to the forum.

Wow - I was expecting Ted or Andy to pick this one up...

CicloExplorer:Does anyone else know how to post pictures from their iphone or smart phone directly to the forum.
I just learned how to do this a few days ago, and it sounds like you are doing the right thing, but here's the procedure, anyways (I use the Photobucket iPhone app, but it should be essentially the same for smart phone /hosting site) for everybody's benefit:

    1) Upload the picture to your hosting site of choice, using email, app, or whatever mobile alternatives the site gives you.
    2) Copy the direct link URL from the site: This should start with "http://" (not "IMG". "a href" or any other fancy pants HTML coding tags) and end with ".jpg". In my app, I click a small "Info" button below the photo to open up the URLs to choose from
    3) Login to the forum, open a new post, and click the "img" button. Paste the above URL into popup window. and just leave the second popup blank.
    4) Preview and save post when it is correct

I just tried it from my phone and this works. If anybody has alternative processes for their brand of smart phone and/or hosting site, please feel free to elaborate here.

I want to emphasize, however, that ownership of a fancy-pants phone and the above skillset are NOT required to part-take in this game: All you need is a plain camera. Once taken, bring the photo home and just upload it the good ol'fashioned way to your hosting site!

Gah, I knew I was screwed for this round when I saw CicloExplorer heading the *opposite way* this morning. Oh well... :)

Edited to remove the hint I inadvertently dropped.

For you flicker mobile app users. In order to grab the URL for a picture on your phone. pull up www.flicker.com in your browser. It will most likely automatically pull up the mobile site. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the flicker.com link. This will take you to the full version of the site. Find your picture and grab the HTML using the share pull down menu just like you would on your computer. Copy, paste, ect... For you guys stuck in the stone age without copy/paste on your phone keep a pen and paper handy.

When I was whining about not being able to copy and paste...I had no pen. Just lipstick and I had half a mind to scrawl the url on the sidewalk so I could type in the url. But I didn't want to waste a perfectly good lipstick and cause recursive confusion to anyone looking up the url

A quick reminder that this game is all about getting as many cyclists as possible off their butts and onto their saddles. Towards that goal, please avoid tag locations that require intensive Googling, consulting with "lifelines", or uncommonly detailed or specific local knowledge.

Instead, aim to place tags in locations that are well known, interesting, and easily identifiable from the image you post to a large number of SD cyclists.

Stephan and I arrived in a dead heat and formed a gentleman's agreement to let the "best" man win.

As a side note, running into Stephan on the way there (second time this weekend) and chatting about our shared taste in saddle bags, among other things, was way more rewarding than getting the tag, and the "race" home was probably the most fun I've had on a bike lately (and I always have fun on my bike!).

Rats! I guess I took too long stopping on the way home to take pictures for my next spot. But never mind. I agree with Thom that it's always a pleasure to ride bikes and chat with him. The other "highlight" of the trip was when a car pulled up beside us at a light and asked if this was a father-son ride. I know it could have been so, but no way I feel that old! Why not? 'Cause I ride a bike.

I stepped outside my girlfriend's front door and could see the water tower, I felt like I had no choice. This is her bike in the photo. It's too small for me, so I felt a bit like this:

But I still got the tag:

I think that means you have to ride your girlfriend's bike to place the next tag.:face-monkey:

This is in my hood Ocean Beach! On Bacon St. in between Voltaire and West Point Loma. This is a killer piece done by Caleb Aero.

Side note: Caleb Aero is the older brother of Emery Kauanui. If you remember, he was the young man (soon to be pro surfer) who was murdered in La Jolla by some stupid punks after a little tussle at a bar. Talented family...

Based on current activity level for this game, and in the interest of keeping "down time" to a minimum, I have reduced the maximum time allowed between a "find" and a "post" from 72hrs to 24hrs with effect from the next "find".

Might not be a bad idea to have a couple shots "saved" that you could post right after the find. I have a couple pics from a couple different places around town. Just have to stop getting bruced. haha

The rules state that the "place tag" photo has to be taken chronologically later than the "find tag" photo, so to use a "file photo" as a place tag would not work.
