    Well, it's a little grainy...

Remembering how long the last grainy/night tag lasted, I figured I'd post some closer shots that came out clearer.
Previous location is the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, 328 J Street.

I don't think the Hearst Castle-like mansion on the bluff is the University House, but I think the house on the right side of Velo's photo might be it. Here are some photos of the University House (William Black House) in this blog post:

I believe that is correct, SG. The house in the tag (27,000 - 50,000 sq.ft. [depending on who's counting], 9BR, 14BA) is owned by this guy - who doesn't even live there cuz his main pad is in Beverly Hills.

Search for "Burkle mansion la jolla" and you'll find all kinds of info on the house.

At first, as I rode up to the tag, I thought I had been Bruced. I had. But to quote Hans..."the benevolent hath bestowed pity on myself in the form of tag ownership". Shady, in his generosity and good will, has given me the honor of posting the next tag. Sometime tomorrow.

It's fortuitous really, that he was there, had already posted his bike as tag owner, then generously offered to share the tag by editing in the new image. If I was the one to try to secure the tag, I would have known "the Bruce", in all it's humiliation. Noooooooo!

Actually, It might have been cool to have a three-way tag, picked up by another, completely different, three-way group. Sigurd, you must pedal faster! :face-devil-grin:

By the time I've ridden home, uploaded the edited image and posted this, I'm already 36 minutes behind Sigurd. I'm so old skool it hurts. I missed out on Tower 20 and the Belmont Park tags last evening. I thought I was a goner tonight. Lucky for me, Shady's living in the 21st Century.

Ride well and be safe out there,

    OKB

    From the WP article:

"He got his start in the supermarket business as a bag boy at his father's grocery store in neighboring Claremont."

"Burkle has served as Chairman of the Board and controlling shareholder of numerous companies, including Alliance Entertainment,[4] Golden State Foods, Dominick's, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, and Food4Less. He is currently a member of the board of Occidental Petroleum Corporation,[5] KB Home,[6] and Yahoo![7]"

"Burkle is a well-known Democratic supporter and fundraiser who raised more than $1,000,000 for the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. Bill Clinton is employed by The Yucaipa Companies to help identify possible investment opportunities.[8] He has supported California State Treasurer Phil Angelides and employed former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, both of whom are former California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) board members, but has also made contributions to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.[9] Robert Novak reported in June 2007 that 98 percent of Burkle's $1.5 million political contributions to date have gone to Democrats.[10] Burkle helped finance Al Gore's cable Current TV network.[11]"

Ah, so he's a crony capitalist!

For the next two months, the Sun is just about as far North as it will get for the season. The days are long and will soon be hot!
This analog time keeper never needs winding or a battery.

Remember the eclipse this evening from ~ 5:00 PM until 7:45 PM. Mid-eclipse is right around 6:30 PM or so. Check the info I posted to the Just Sayin' thread. (Don't look at the SUN!)

Ride well and be safe out there,

Down our way we could look straight at the sun - no special equipment needed: The marine layer was just thick enough for a perfect view of the sun and moon.

Thin cloud layers are not opaque to UV light! Be careful!

Also, I wish I had tuned back in just a day earlier...the previous tag was a mere 120 second bike ride from my home.

Usually, this is the responsibility of the primary finder, but as a Brucer and in the interest of time I'll substitute for them: The tag was at the little park at the southern end of Draper Ave in La Jolla, near where Draper terminates into the Fay Extension / Bird Rock bikepath.

I found the spot and my phone died as I tried to take the picture. I restarted the phone and snapped the photo, then rode on and took a couple more for the new tag. Got home and found that the original tag photo was not on the card, even though the "new" tag phots were there. I don't know what happened. Someone else will have to get this. (By the way, the Strava track might or might not help you.)
