I've mapped the tags so far. Three I didn't see the location for & left downtown.
I had been thinking of doing the same but not gotten around to it - so, great!

Not sure that the link you provided works, though.

If you give me edit privileges to the map, I can correctly place the three you are missing, as well as contribute generally to the map in the future if you want.

That's actually a great idea. We could edit the original post to include a link to the map.

By the way, this board is one of the finest out there ... in terms of the software.

I have to disagree, but I see where you're coming from. Definitely cleaner design, I'll give you that. Most of the popular forum software out there seems to encourage...garishness for lack of a better word. It does seem to be somewhat more modern in its design choices.

But, for just one instance: I was trying to figure out when the last tag was posted. I don't want "1 day ago". Is that about 24 hours? Between 24 and 48? I've had other instances of non-obviousness, but perhaps I'm in the minority.

Not that I'm obsessively waiting for the next tag or anything. :face-devil-grin:

This board software ability to automatically parse images and videos is a standout above the garbage most boards use.

For example: PhpBBS is just AWFUL at dealing with images (if the URL has one of several characters, you can forget about it( and you can nix embedding video.

That's two minutes from my work and I could easily have picked it up during my lunch break - if I only had known where it was...
I mean, how could I not have known about a 20 foot high statue next to a road I have traveled 100's of times? Only when Hippy was talking about his work place did it dawn on me - duh...

Neither of which would be in the City of San Diego, and therefore would not meet the rules of the game. Now, San Ysidro would be different matter altogether!

Perhaps we should start a new thread for "Coastal North County Bike-o-rama" We have at least 5 peeps that live up this corner of San Diego ( That is north of Carmel Valley Road).

I could even make a flyer to invite other peeps.

I think you definitely should - anything north of Torrey Pines, west of I-5 and south of Pendleton (for example!) could be the tag's home area: The tag might move a little slower than down here where we have more members, but it would still be fun for us here to travel up to NoCo and "steal" yours (just like you are stealing ours)!

It's along a common cycling route, definitely San Diego, and I'm riding 23mm tires, so don't be decieved by the dirt!

@gavilian- When I used to ride this as my commute, the predawn rabbits would abound here, as well...

Haven't noticed that little bridge there before - I wonder what it does? I guess, if it is in a fenced-in area, that it doesn't really matter to the public.
  9.
    @Sigurd-
There was a gate (surprisingly open!) right near where I leaned the bike. I went back there to find a friendly bush, and thought about investigating the bridge, that I also had never really noticed. Then I decided to spend my energies on bicycle exploration instead!
    :face-angel:

Oh! And yes, I did find the gates at the top of the CountryClub climb- there's another great stretch of hill past them! I did take a wrong left out of the gates, which put me on a beautiful vista and increased the climb a bit. I took a bike-o-rama shot there, but it was just too difficult altogether

Did bananas get more expensive over the summer or something? I remember that in Pittsburgh and, seemingly, just about everywhere I stopped on my bike tour, bananas were $.49/lb. But I hardly ever see them here below $.69/lb, even though they're apparently arriving by the boatload. Weird.

Just a rule clarification with regards to the right time to reveal the location of a claim: This should be done when, or after, the claimer has placed a new tag. So - you claim a tag, post a new tag, and only then will you reveal the location of your claim.

    Why?

We have a system whereby a secondary claimer (such as VC above, also know as a "Bruce") becomes the legitimate claimer by default if the primary claimer fails to place his new tag within 48 24hrs of his claim. By not having the location of the claim revealed, secondary claimers ("Bruce") need to make the claim on basis of the same info as the primary claimer (instead of having been told the location they need to go to).

If this makes sense...this rule is not going to be enforced really strictly at all, but if we all at least strive towards following that format.

This game makes me wanna ride more for fun
