Did bananas get more expensive over the summer or something? I remember that in Pittsburgh and, seemingly, just about everywhere I stopped on my bike tour, bananas were $.49/lb. But I hardly ever see them here below $.69/lb, even though they're apparently arriving by the boatload. Weird.
Sigurd:Just a rule clarification with regards to the right time to reveal the location of a claim: This should be done when, or after, the claimer has placed a new tag. So - you claim a tag, post a new tag, and only then will you reveal the location of your claim.
Why?
We have a system whereby a secondary claimer (such as VC above, also know as a "Bruce") becomes the legitimate claimer by default if the primary claimer fails to place his new tag within 48hrs of his claim. By not having the location of the claim revealed, secondary claimers ("Bruce") need to make the claim on basis of the same info as the primary claimer (instead of having been told the location they need to go to).
If this makes sense...this rule is not going to be enforced really strictly at all, but if we all at least strive towards following that format.
billd:Damn. I know that one.
markphilips:Hmmm... PacMule still has 30 hrs left to post a tag. Unless, I mis-read the rules that Sigurd reiterated.PacMule has 48hrs from claim to place new tag - it is definitely his "turn".

PacMUle:.. but trust me, the ride is beautiful...This is sarcasm, right (unless you loiter through the base, I guess)? :face-monkey:
Velo Cult:BRUCED! Sorry PacMUle.
Sigurd:PacMule has 48hrs from claim to place new tag - it is definitely his "turn".
Velo Cult:I don't just know the location. I remember that day.billd:Damn. I know that one. It's almost in your back yard. Though, it sounds like I jumped the gun and it's still PacMUle's game.
Sigurd:
VC's tag "mis-placement" gave me an idea for a "hyper variation" of this game, though: In this variation, a tag is live until anyone who found it and posted, regardless of order, has placed a new tag: In this "hyper variety", VC (in the example above) would be the legitimate tag holder because he placed it first, regardless of if he was the first to claim or not: Anybody who has made a claim can place the tag - the first one to do so is the winner!
Again - we will stay with our current rules, but the hyper variation may be fun for a more fast-paced and punchy game.

markphilips:Darn it's a different building. Oh well, discovered few places...
Praxis:...I cheat and use Google and Street View, but I am certain there's another one around close to me (and not the other one I find on Google, either). I just can't place it exactly. The very location is in plain-view on Street View, but is a little finicky to find as the building is set back a bit from the main road.
gavilan:I think it's already challenging for those of us that don't have fancy phones with which you can post the picture immediately once you get the tag and have to run home, download it from the camera and post it...Fully agree - the advantage is already tilted towards those carrying the latest in cellphone technology, and it would be counter to the all-inclusive spirit of the game to further this advantage. Having recently gone "retro" myself and traded my iPhone for an eight year old Nokia I can easily relate to that!
t.e.d:...near the new overpriced pedestrian bridge. They should have figured out a way create a pedestrian-only crossing at Park instead of the bridge. Basically, the bridge is a giant sack of money given by tax payers to the developer and owner of the vast parking structure on the west side of Harbor - there is no other discernible societal benefit from the bridge that I can identify.
markphilips:OKay, I have to admit that I drove my car as I had several places to visit today but had "ride time"in between
Went to another location this morning that was relatively close to a favorite outdoor store but the walls were different from Pacmule's post. Disappointed but kept riding.
It wasn't fun riding up that stretch of busy road at all....
Found this near my favorite industrial hardware store but I had to look for it on my bike.
I think we need to keep the TAGS (photos) near a more common area near downtown....
PacMUle:awww... i figured you guys would have enjoyed the scenery on the way there... though this specific spot is not the prettiest, the journey there is very much so!

From what direction is the scenery nice?
Sigurd:#5: No whining!
HippyOnaBike:....8 and 21... Soledad to finish for any masochists...Dude, are you going batty?
Sigurd:Ted is right - the game is all about getting people out on their bikes, and if this means exploring some unfamiliar or far away areas, even better! On a general level, I think we owe PacMule an apology for breaking the following game rule:
Praxis:Not to mention all of us totally talking about the tag location before the next one is up.Agreed - this has become a bad habit. I guess members get excited when they know the location, but if they can't ride out and get it this very moment, they'll chat about it here in poorly cloaked references, instead. But let's not!

From Mission Bay, I could make a quite nice route of it: Rose Canyon BP, Rose Canyon Trail, continue the trail to the north/east of UC High, hit Nobel and then Miramar Rd.: I had planned to do this Sat or Sun early AM, and I am sure it would have been a great ride!
Velo Cult:... I go ahead and share.Gotta love those Swedish subtitles!
markphilips:Watch your step. Go get it!It's mine tomorrow!
Sigurd:Velo Cult:... I go ahead and share.Gotta love those Swedish subtitles!
HippyOnaBike:All these stretches of coast all look the same to me!
Checked like 4 spots today- no dice, I'm surrendering. Someone else go get it!
:face-crying:
markphilips: If Chris only knew... ;-)He found out immediately - I dropped by his work on the way back.
HippyOnaBike:...as I know he recently reverted cellphone technology, while my cutting edge can post in <10min)...I'd like to think about it as having "gone retro'.
HippyOnaBike:I totally could have made it down there and posted, but encouraged my own sense of sportsmanship...Seeing as we discussed the location, that would have been cleverly mischievous. If course, it also would have attained you status as my eternal arch nemesis!
t.e.d:Pretty sure we're supposed to hold off on the location reveal until after the next tag is posted...:face-plain:That is correct. FYI, all archived tags are mapped here.
dstone:... I hope Sigurd gets on that today!
