More information is available at http://thefilthysailors.com/ or UrbanBS, if you want in on the AstroVan shuttle option. Last year's ride was great. It's kind of a time/distance rally, in order to get to the finish line before sunset. This year's ride is being held a bit earlier in the year, so the sun will be setting sooner than the last one.
Note that there are Sprinter stations nearby most breweries. So if you have time restrictions, you can take the Sprinter back to Oceanside.
1. Breakwater - near Oceanside Transit Station plenty of free parking there 2. Oceanside Ale Works - Sprinter College, Melrose and Vista 3. Mother Earth - Sprinter Buena Creek 4. Lost Abbey - Sprinter San Marcos, Palomar College 5. Iron Fist - nearest would be Sprinter Palomar college 6. Pizza Port Carlsbad - if you do decide to take the Sprinter back to Oceanside then it's a 3 mile bike ride to Pizza Port
Note that the last Coaster coaster departure: Oceanside at 5:07 pm Carlsbad village at 5:12 pm Carlsbad Poinsettia at 5:51 pm
I can shuttle 3 people to San Diego in the evening in exchange for dessert at Baby Cakes or Filters. I can fit 3 bikes on a rear rack.:face-devil-grin:
I do not regularly ride the Sprinter, but I had heard of construction delays starting this week. I found this on NCTD's website: "Note: SPRINTER track repairs began Jan. 24 and will last through February, 2012. Expect 10-15 minute delays. Weekdays, we are offering an Express Shuttle Bus to help you avoid delays. PLEASE NOTE ON WEEKENDS, THE SPRINTER WILL RUN HOURLY ALL DAY. "
Great turn out on this hot sunny day. About 30 bicyclists from beach cruisers, townies, roadies, weekend warriors, and urban cyclists. The Brewery, err tasty grub and grog, and drinks are just fantastic after a bike ride. Good to see few forum and Urban BS members at the Breakwater brewery.
