Bike storage and organization has been discussed before but somehow there is no dedicated thread for easy reference. This is an on going challenge for me as my cargobikes, camping, tools, and other stuff get very messy. Please join in the discussion. So here is the first entry that came across online

Wood Rail Wall Unit: Modular, Adjustable, and easy to build.

The rack is very nice looking and appears to be useful.

However, I do not understand the concept of having your bicycle in the garage. If in the garage it may be inconvenient to check on them during the night :)

Curtis, who is considering a change in the garage

After 52 years on the planet, I've come to realize that organization is easier when you don't have as much stuff. I'm on my way to having three bikes, and I think the family will be down to about eight. I took two 2x4s, drilled holes 18" c-c, then inserted plastic coated bike hooks. I drilled additional holes and then used lag screws to screw the 2x4s into the ceiling joists in the garage. It's not the most convenient setup, but it works for storing up to about 10 bikes in a relatively small space, hanging from the ceiling. I hang the MTBs from the rear wheels to avoid having suspension forks upside down for prolonged periods of time.

I'm thinking about building a couple knockoffs of these:

Yet another reason for horizontal top tubes -- as if another one was needed...

PS! At that price, make a few extra for sell and recoup your cost of materials.

Haha. Yeah. I appreciate the nice design element but come on... I'm pretty sure that me building these is going to be entirely dependent on where I move.

Some nice racks you've got there! Who makes them?

This looks good and seems pretty easy to make.
